Matts 1 minute review: Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles: The Hyperstone Heist (Mega Drive)

There’s nothing better than a chilled Sunday afternoon cracking on with some retro gaming. This weeks dabble is an absolutely classic side scrolling beat ’em up from Konami, TMHT-The Hyperstone Heist.

Konami have always been top of the pile when it comes to beat ’em ups. With fun graphics, slick controls and great gameplay mechanics they have always excelled at this genre. Just look at this list

  • Bucky O’Hare
  • The Simpsons Arcade Game
  • X-men
  • Asterix
  • Batman Returns

As you can see they are also good at getting a decent license or 2 😉

I had high hopes for THH (The Hyperstone Heist), Turtles in time is one of my favourite games on the arcade and the SNES, and this feels very similar.

It uses a lot of the same animations, cut scenes and bosses as it’s SNES predecessor, just with little tweaks so it feels like a new game, but all the familiar qualities as previously mentioned are all there.

It took me just under a hour and 1 continue to complete it on the easy setting and, if I had more time, I would have gone straight back in and re-run it on a harder setting.
I give Teensge Mutant Hero Turtles: The Hyperstone Heist 7.5 Cowabungas out of 10
